Hide “Sign In” LInk – SharePoint 2013

If you want to hide the Sign in Link which is displayed into the welcome control, what you have to do is to put the Welcome control into some div and assign ID to that div. After that use style=”display:none” in that div. Now the main thing is to put below code after the closing of the welcome control div

<Sharepoint:SPSecurityTrimmedControl ID=”SPSecurityTrimmedControl” runat=”server” PermissionsString=”AddAndCustomizePages”>

document.getElementById(“id of div containing welcome control”).style.display = “block”;

What the above code is doing is displaying the welcome control div to only users having”AddAndCustomizePages” permissions and not users having least permission on site.

AppFabric Installation Failed on Windows Server 2012, MSI returned error 1603

While installing the preReqs for SharePoint 2013 i stuck at AppFabric installation when i got error “Appfabric installation failed because installer MSI returned with error code:1603″. After a long search i found the solution which i am listing here as well.

Open RegEdit and search “PSModulePath”, you will be shown the following screen:

Right click PSModulePath and select Modify…

At the end of Value Data you will find an extra ” which needs to be removed. Once removed, re try the installation and it will be successfull.
